'Pop' sound during tight turns
If the CV boot is ripped then the grease prolly spewed out and now the joint is dry and now prolly broken. Ripped boot = replace the whole axle, cause it's easier than repacking the CV bearings and replacing the boot.
while your down there check the strut bushing. my old 94eg would have that pop every now and then and midus checked the balljoints and such and said no problem... well after i looked closer on the car i could see that the bushing on the front LCA for the strut was tore loose.... thats what was making my car pop every now and then.....

it was also uneven which is what i think is what was poping from it sliding front to back on bumps or turns...

new bushing fixed that poping on my car. but like they said id replace the axle first if its torn. i have to eventualy replace my axle on passenger side since my boot is poped but so far its not making any noises so im pushing the repair back till it does

if you're unsure, just take it to a mechanic and have him tag along while you try to recreate the noise.
For me, a bad axle results in a knock-knock-knock noise when turn your wheel to the extreme.
