Power Steering Removal and Installation help?
I did a quick search on the forums, and came up with nothing.
I am wondering what is all involved with putting power steering in a car that does not have power steering, along with a tilting steering column. I would imagine the column is not too hard, and I have found a car with power steering + all the parts, I just need to strip them out. Anyone ever written a tutorial up? The car that has power steering is a 1990-1991 Civic Hatchback, Dx. The car it is going into is a 1990 Civic Hatch, Cx. Any help is appreciated! I am hoping to go to the junk yard again tomorrow, so quick replies are even more appreciated! :) |
The column is the same I think. You would need to swap out the rack and pinion unit, and install the pump, hoses, etc. Also have the wheels aligned when you are done.

i got the pump, hoses, cooling rad...
is the rack and pinion unit hard to take out? i got a whole box of goodies waiting for me there tomorrow... prelude steering wheel with cruise buttons, lock actuators, nice front signal lights... and, i unbolted the steering column, but that is as far as i got. i can see the joint, do i have to further unbolt it? |
