Power Window Fails to Roll Up
The driver's side power window on my 98 EX fails to completely roll up. I removed the door trim to examine the regualtor and have found that you can push the window up the remaining 5 inches or so by hand but the motor itself makes funny noises and the window bounces up and down in the track. Also, when it is pushed up by hand to close it, any small jolt and the window falls about 3-4 inches and stops. Under its own power, the window will roll down and almost up. It's that last 3 or so inches where it has problems. Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem and whether this is something I can fix without replacing the regulator or does this read like a new regulator is required?
Do a search, there is a post regarding this. I have step by step spraying silicon in the tracks to make your window roll up and down better. You can try tightening the bolts where the xbrace meets the window.
Thanks for the link. I did try a search and didn't find anything helpful. The words I used were probably too specific.
I suspected that it might have been off track as it's done that before but I'm confident the window is in the track and slides freely without binding. When I do push the window up the remaining few inches, it will not stay up. It falls back down about the same amount. The only way I've been able to get it to actually remain closed is to put a c-clamp on the track so the window can't move at all. Obviously that makes it hard to use my window.
The X-brace was mentioned as a possibly culprit. What exactly is it and how would I go about troubleshooting it?

the x-brace is the mechanism that hold your window and make your window go up and down. It is possible the gear (teeth) in the motor is damage or warn out by over use or just wear and tear. If one or more teeth are warn out it will not catch it and it will slip down to the closet teeth that the gear can grip. The x-brace (motor) is kinda pricy, somewhere in the 100's.
