Quarter-size oil drop after parked at night - any ideas? Time/money to fix?

I knew the day would come, but my 96 HX w/ 237K miles on it is leaking oil from underneath, leaves about a quarter-size drop on the ground after being parked every night.

Looks like it is coming from where the oil pan and transmission area meet, maybe right above the exhaust, but I'm just on here to try to see if this is a common problem and the time and/or money to fix?

I would love to fix it before its get bad, since I take this car everywhere as it is otherwise running awesome, consistent 42mpg in mixed city/highway driving, VTEC still kicks in, no oil burning etc...(knock on wood!)

thanks

237K and just now leaking oil... that's pretty good. How long has it been since you had the timing belt changed or any other engine work?

Before you replace anything I'd wipe down all the oil you can see and keep a eye on it for a few days. If your lucky it's just a bad oil pan seal which should be a easy fix. Another possible leak point is the Oil filter or drain bolt (look at these if you've just notice the problem after a oil change).

Many other seals could be to blaim, they're all more difficult to get to the the above possibilities.

Let us know what you find,

Thanks...Yeah, when I got it at 226K, I changed the timing belt - hadnt been replaced - and the master cylinder - leaking. Has been fine since. Bolt is tight and I've wiped it down - almost certain its coming from the engine oil pan seal or a seal (if it exists) between the transmission and oil pan, but its hard to see up there...

Any other seals I'm missing around that area?

thanks

Rear main oil seal (engine side)
Input shaft seal (tranny side)

If your clutch starts to slip at higher RPM expect one of those.
I just did the tranny seal in mine as the input bearing was toast and it ate the seal up.

It could be just about any seal. Wherever it comes out, it comes down eventually. Even from the filling plug :) And I personally would not bother for that size of a leak for that old of a car. You might very well be risking to get more and possibly bigger problems trying to fix this small one.:(
