looks like a coolant line, and it looks like it's just surface rust where the coolant spilt on it and has corroded, you should be fine (one's a vacuum and the other is a coolant to the manifold)

Take what this man says to heart. And by spray he means like a fire hose out of control. It got everywhere in my engine bay. I just used a peice of hose from auto zone.

I only had slight surface rust. That real problem was on the inside of the tubing. You see sometime when the make those parts not every part gets exactly the same treatment. Some end up with less coating on the inside. The coating keeps them from corroding.

Well guess what happens if the surface wears from the inside out? Give up? O.K. It will look fine from the outside, but end up breaking a tiny hole through the tube and you get fluid sprayed everywhere.

So I am not trying to, as you put it, "Scare him to death". I am trying to help him be suggesting that he make a $2 repair that will take ten minutes tops. Rather than have him possiably end up having five hours of engine cleaning to do. See my point?
