Question Re: Rear Knocking in 2001 Civic Coupe
Hi. I am wondering if I can gain some insight into this issue before heading to a mechanic, as I would like to do the job myself, if possible.
The issue is pretty simple to describe:
While driving, sometimes I hear a knocking noise generating from the right rear wheel. The knocking is rotational, related to the speed of the wheel. The knocking seems to be brought on by hard turns / shifting of weight. The knocking can also be brought on when I press the brake while going downhill around a corner. Whatever the case, it will sometimes just go away, or become less noisy, on its own after several seconds. Additionally, if the wheel is knocking and I come to a complete stop, I can immediately begin driving again and the noise will be gone.
I suppose it could be the wheel bearings, the shocks, the control arm, the drum brake, but I honestly have no clue. Any ideas? (Thanks!)
