quick question

Default quick question

hey everyone

just a quik question from a noobie

im guna paint my valve cover (B16A) and was just wondering do i just need to undo the bolts to get it off. i dont need to drain the oil or nething like that do it?

i searched but couldnt find out bout the oil

any help would be great

undo the bolts and u should be good. i got a new valve cover gasket when i did mine. i put a clean bag over it after i took it off so nothin could get in there. fyi don't try and sandblast it takes forever just sand and spray

oh thanks man that got me sorted. yeh id herd bout puting a bag over it. is it vital to get a new gaskest? or is that just incase it cracks wen u remove it?

no need to get a new gasket...some of that red hi temp sealant on yer old gasket should work just fine...using your finger, spread it lightly over the rim of the cylinder head (where the gasket meets it) stick the valve cover/gasket on and let it dry (about 20 minutes) and that'll be as good as a new gasket.....a tube of htat **** only costs like 5 bucks and it comes in handy for other things too.
