Rack and pinion help please!

I have a 95 Honda Civic coupe, SOHC non-vtec. The rack and pinion needs replaced, but the mechanic found out it has a manual rack and pionion in it when its supose to have power steering. Someone before I bought it changed the power steering out probably due to a wreck. Does anyone know what car has a manual rack and pinion that can be swaped with the 95 Civic power steering? I need to know so I can by the part from the auto store. Thanks!!!!

Well, LX and EX Civic's (92-95) had power steering. You don't have to put a power steering rack on. You put a working non-power rack back on.

The guys at the auto store tell me all 95 civics had power steering, and they don't know what car the manual rack and pinion came out of. What car and year do I get the manual rack and pinion out of?

All '95 DX sold in the USA had manual steering. Find a real parts store.

I hate to say this but every auto site I've went to shows the 92-95 civic with a power steering rack and pinion. I still can not find anyone that sells it in manual rack and pinion. Any more sugestions would be great!!!

Get a second opinion!! If the mechanic doesn't know that you DX should not have PS, then he's probably wrong about his diagnosis. Go to a different mechanic!!!!
