Radiator replacement/d15b7
I got a radiator that is leaking. 1995 Civic LX/d15b7 engine. I see anti-freeze on the radiator fan and on top of the radiator, but it's not leaking a lot.
My questions are: 1. Is it easy to replace a radiator? 2. Where should I get a replacement radiator and hoses? 3. Can I get a two-row radiator for an EX or will that not fit my single row radiator for an LX? |
Are you sure the radiator is leaking as opposed to the radiator cap or reservoir?

Could just be the connection for the top hose leaking. Clean all the antifreeze off and then watch closely for where it first starts to leak out. If it's the hose, tighten the clamp and/or replace the hose.
The radiator is easy to replace. After disconnecting it (the water hoses, the fan plug, and the transmission cooler lines if the car is automatic), take the two brackets off the top and lift the radiator and fan out as a unit. Swap the fan over to your new radiator and install it. |

that's what happened to my radiator, except when i carefully tightened it, the plastic at the radiator port was so brittle that it just collapsed and made it worse. I had to replace the radiator after that. Hopefully yours doesn't crack. Make sure to be careful when tightening, and don't overtighten. |
