Default Radio "HOT"

About a month agoI was running my civic real hard on the high way. I had the heater on full blast, as usual, and as I got off the interstate my radio turned off and had the word "HOT". My guess is that it is the water temperature. I have a 5 spd 2005 Civic Coupe VP.

Has anyone else experienced this? Isit the water temp? If sowhy didn't the needle move for the temperature gauge? My previous vehicle was a well maintained '93 Blazer and I always ran with the heater high to keep it cool when I would run on the highways at night. And the needle would fluctuate for me to see the change in temperature.

i dont think it was the car itself that was hot. I think the vents were pointed towards the radio, causing it to shut it self off so it wouldnt over heat. Or even if the vents werent pointed towards it, it still could have caused it to overheat

well, sunfires and cavaliers have the same problem. my mom has an 05' sunflower, and the radio in her car overheats whenever the light inside the stereo turns on. (when the headlights are turned on), and its just the bulb inside the stereo.the GM dealer in saskatoon replaced the stereo, but it still does it. the same thing happens on my cousins cavalier, but it never happenedto any of the cars iv had(all had aftermarket stereos) so my adviceis to get an aftermarket stereo.

Even though I got an aftermarket radio (Sony), the CDs are very hot when taken out from it. Having the heater blower fins just above the radio doesn't relaly help. I got a 97 Civic EX automatic.

The radio getting hot sounds more reasonable because the water temperature guage never increased. Thanks for the input.

Also, I've never seen a radio being in charge of system error messages (unless it's one of the new ones, with a big LCD screen...and even than, I'm not sure it does that).
