Random Idle Problem

Ok boys and girls, need some help.

1997 DX (canadian EX) manual D16y7, only mod is an SRI thats been on for a year.

At random times when the car is fully warmed up, I have noticed that after coming to a stop the idle will increase from normal (about 600, slightly low I know but its always idled down there) to 1000, 15000, or 2000 RPMs. Never inbetween, and it can go days/weeks between episodes. It doesn't seem to matter if I've been driving more agressivly (shifting 4000-5000) or slow cruise (shfting 3000-3500). Doesn't seem to be weather realated either (warm or cool day, dry or humid).

Its been doing this about 3 weeks, and if I kick the throttle (like an oldschool carb to get it off high idle) it comes down to normal and is ok until the next time it acts up.

I think it may be TPS or the Idle module (forget what its called...having a brian fart) Any ideas/opinions/fixes? Its not throwing a CEL.

RE: Random Idle Problem

i personally think you should check to see if there are air bubbles in your coolant system. that would cause the high idle.

once the air bubbles pass through the thermostat your RPMs stumble back down to normal or slightly lower than normal range.

it's a quick and easy fix if it is air bubbles in your coolant system.

I have the same problem, but I'm too lazy to go to the acura dealership to buy the OEM coolant.

my brother had the same problem.

ok, but this seems to be really random, and it only started afew weeks ago. I havn't changed coolant or anything, its never been low, so WTF? maybe I'll see if I can bleed it this weekend.

it wouldn't hurt, and it's cheap if not free to fix.

*feeling a little silly for asking*

ok so I'll freely admit I know very little about the detailed mechanincals of a honda. General stuff I'm ok with, but anyway .... where would I locate the bleed screw/bolt for the coolant. I'm guessing follow the upper rad hose back to the thermostat housing and its probably on there somwhere right? or is it elsewhere?
