in the read here before you post thread theres a link to a thread that explains what causes the rattling noise when you turn on the A/C. Is it the blower motor? Needs to be replaced?

Also, my ac clutch locked up and broke the belt that was attached. I also have a loud noice when I turn on the AC. If I replace the motor will I get air coming out of the vent? Obviously it wont be cold but some air is better than nothing...

Basically Im asking if a working compressor/clutch is needed to get air, not cold, coming from the vents.

 

no the a/c ompressor only affects the a/c. it does not operate when you just turn on the fan or use the heater. they are independent of each other. so yes, if your problem is the fan motor, replace it to see if it works.
