Default Remote locks

I'm about to get everything sorted out on my daughters 96 Civic. I read the sticky on programming the remote key fob, but that process doesn't seem to work. It does have the factory radio. I put a new battery in the key fob and it does light up when the buttons are pressed.

I have noticed the drivers door doesn't lock when you press the lock button that is on the door, but only locks with the key. The other three doors lock.

Could that be part of the problem?

Thanks

OK, maybe I'm narrowing it down. I used the procedure others have outlined using the valet button on the radio. I hear the cycling and my remote buttons then sound as though they work. When I turn the key off and remove it the doors all lock but the drivers. It tries to move, but not far enough to lock. I can press the remote as many as six times and the door lock **** progressively works its way down till locked. But....then it (drivers door) won't unlock without using the key. All the other doors do.

Is there an adjustment inside the door?

So at this point only the driver's door does not lock or unlock with the remote or switch on the door panel?

Pull off the driver's door panel and inspect the mechanical lock mechanism to see whether it is sticking. If not, replacing the lock actuator should fix the problem.

Couldn't find anything binding, so I suspect the actuator. I'll make another post on how to check, remove and replace it if I don't find that with a search.

Thanks

Thanks Ron,
Do you know if there is a standard procedure for removing the actuator?

I think that, once the door panel is off, the procedure for removal and installation of the actuator will be evident and straightforward.
