The bottom bolt gets rusty and stuck. You may need to hammer it out. First loosen the nut until it is just past the end of the bolt (to protect the threads on the bolt) and hammer on the nut. After you get as far as it will go with the nut on, take the nut off-- and if it's still stuck use a rod or an old bolt to drive the bolt all the way through.

If you haven't already, raise the car, take the left front wheel off, and reach the bolt through the wheel opening.

Hit the bolt to drive it into the hole toward the center of the car. Do not hit the alternator housing, that would accomplish nothing.

You don't have to remove the belt first, but if it is in the way, first loosen the bolt holding the curved top bracket to the engine. Swing the bracket up out of the way so the alternator can move. Then pry the alternator toward the engine to loosen the belt.

i already damaged the threads too late now, and my friend told me just after i give up trying todo .... he told me it is not good hammer i use, he will get the big hammer i will use today to try to get it off the bolt, when he left i was having another thought about the c-clamp or the wrench to try to spin the bolt to make break rust btw i already sprayed wd-40 on the thread and around ....

i have done others cars to remove alternator no problem but it is first time i have dealt hard time with this honda civic

Here's a tip, back out the nut so there's space between the nut and the bracket. Use the nut as a hammering spot. This reduces the damage done to the threads.

But, if you have impact tools at your disposal. I highly suggest that you use an air hammer. That bolt will come out in 1 minute.

i understand now but i gave up because of insufficient tools and need to go in garage and remove it there is no way to get it off without a torch or a air hammer that s where garage does have air compressor

and thread is already damaged i should know better next time put nut on it and a little space so i can hammer it next time
others car i can remove alternator no problem but honda civic is more difficult and i learned my lesson.
:-) thank you everyone for trying to give me hint.
have a great weekend :-) till i may ask again

ok bad news

the car in a garage and he removed the bolt finally....
the alternator have been changed and still get same problem
alt is giving 12 volt reading.... should it read 14 or 13.50 volt depend of the manufacturer (cant spell right)

i m suspected it is wire defection meaning alt didnt feed to battery
am i right ?
