Default Replace lower ball joint

How many have you replaced the lower ball joint on your Civic. I have a 2001 LX coupe and my joint is tight and withing spec, but it is making a knocking noise. How difficult and involved is this job? I know I need a press to press the joint, can I have a shop do this for a small fee? Any tutorials you have used online to do this? Thanks,

Greg

Are you sure its the ball joint, sometimes a knocking noise is a sign of a bad cv joint.

I took it to Skip's Auto to get the alignment done and they told me the lower ball joint was within spec and not loose, but making a knocking noise. They also told my my control arm bushings were torn. How could I tell if it was a CV joint or not?

Pretty easy to tell if its your CV joint. Look on your axles, there is a rubber boot on theend. If the boot is ripped, your CV joint is probably bad.
