Replace Timing Belt?
I have a 1998 Honda Civic SI with 148,000 km on it, so about 92,000 miles. I took my car in for regular maintenance today and they suggested I should get my timing belt replaced. However, on their website it says to do it at 168,000 km, should I be fine waiting until then or do you guys think I should do it now? Also this Honda dealership quoted around $500 Canadian to replace it, is that reasonable or would I get a better deal at an independent mechanic somewhere? Thanks for any help.

you should change your timing belt at 90,000 if you haven't done so already.
and $500 canadian sounds pretty cheap.

98 civics have a recommended change interval of 105,000 miles
i changed mine at 118ish.
i'd wait for your 100,000 mile check up, and get it done then
