Replacing locks

I just bought a used 95 civic off ebay. And I have two keys. But one only works w/ the doors (does not work in the ignition) and one only works in the ignition but not the doors. And the driver's side door lock definitely sticks and doesn't work very well.

I would love to get all new locks on the civic (1 for each door and one for the trunk). A few questions: 1)anyone have thoughts on how much that would cost? 2) will I have to get the ignition changed too? 3) do i have to go to the dealer to get this done? 4) is there anyway I can get all this done and still just have one key for the doors and to start the car?

Thx

unless the ignition has been messed with you should be able to give the dealership your vin and they should be able to look up the lock cylinders to match the ignition. No idea on cost though and yes onve all said and done you should be able to start/open the car with one key

Thanks. I may try to go to the dealer sometime in the next week or so to see if I can get this taken care of. I don't want to not be able to unlock my doors or not lock my car.

Dealership should be able to hook you up with a whole new key setup, hopefully it don't cost too much

How was your experience buying a car off ebay? lol always seemed to risky for me....

Any pics/details of your car? Price and ish...?

I'll have to schedule a time to get to the dealer. I might try to call for an estimate this week. I just realized that my passenger door doesn't even lock. I'm keeping the car in the garage until I can get this resolved.

Buying off ebay was a pretty decent experience. I didn't buy locally, so there was A LOT of trust involved. And, clearly, I didn't know about this locks issue. But I was dealing w/ an honest seller, which was very helpful. But, I will admit, one does take their chances when they buy a car, sight personally unseen, off ebay.

No pics yet, but I'll definitely post when I get a chance to take them.

Ah, so I just called the dealership to get an estimate on replacing the locks and getting keys; they said that since they'll need to reset the ignition switch or door locks, then it would cost about $250. And then probably another $300 to fix the non-working locks in general. And then about another $50 bucks for every extra key that is made. I'm looking at a total of around $700. Am I getting ripped off?
