Default Rewiring Cruise Control

I recently bought a 2000 Honda Civic ex. One of the problems with it when I bought it was that the cruise control was not working. After looking at it, I found that the wires coming from the servo had been cut. I asked my father, who is an electrician, how hard it would be to rewire. He said the wires weren't cut, they were burned and if I could take the wires out of the plastic adapter peice then I could trim the other ones and put them back in, but the cruise servo was probably bad since it burned them in the first place. So my questions are:

1) How can I check the servo to see if it is working properly and wont hurt the car to be rewired
2) How can I take apart the plastic piece to put the wires into it

I can't get pictures at the moment but if someone needs them I can get them tommorrow. Any help were be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Cut a good plug out of a junked car and splice it to the wires in your car. If there is burning on the servo unit, replace it too. There should be a fuse to prevent any burnt wires even if something is faulty.
