Rim/Tire Combo?
Rota slips are a great idea. they weigh in at a less than 13 pounds, your (our) si wheels weigh a little over 17 pounds, so that is a noticeable difference when it comes off of the unsprung weight AND the rotational mass. also, you can get them a little wider than stock for wider tires. then for a good budget race tire, get a set of Falken Azenis sport. they are a GREAT summer tire, but a word of warning, they are a horrible wet weather tire.they can be had for a little over 60 bucks apiece. otherwise, look into some hoosiers or the new Nitto NT555r2, i think thats the name. its made for autocross. try to get at least a 205 width, with the lowest possible sidewall you can find. if you get Rotas, think about getting 16s, they will cost a little more, as will tires, but the smaller sidewalls will be great for racing. as well as being able to find wider tires. a great idea would be to get something like the Rotas for the track, with a set of hoosiers for racing, and leave the si wheels on with a set of decent tires on them for daily driving. i run Dunlop FM901s on mine, and they are a great tire. a couple other good street tires that arent too expensive are the Yokohama Parada Spec 2, the Toyo Proxes 4, the stickier but softer Toyo T1-S, and Falken is coming out with what is supposed to be the new Be All, End All, of street performance tires. its called the RT 615 i believe. that will be the tire to have, but they are known for taking awhile to release a good range of sizes.
