Default Rotary heating controls

2005 Mark 7 Honda Civic

I have a problem with the illumination of the three heating controls.

When the side and headlights are turned on, only the top control (called the mode control dial in the handbook) is fully illuminated. The temperature dial underneath it is only partially lit (at the top) and the lower dial (fan control dial) is not lit at all.

Eventually they all come on.

Can anybody identify what the problem might be and how the bulbs can be accessed and changed if this is necessary.

Thanks.

That's really strange that they all come on eventually. Usually the bulbs either work or they don't. You would have to pull the entire center console (sounds rough, but not so much of a big deal), then pull the controls off the console, then unscrew/pop them apart to access the bulbs (if memory serves). It is possible that the bulb holders just unscrew without taking the unit apart. That's how it is on 5th generation and 6th generation Civics. Not so sure about 7th generation Civics.

It almost sounds like an electrical problem. Something causing a lot of resistance on that circuit.
