Setting valve lash - d16a1
I've been trying to set the valve lash on my d16a1 for the last week now, and have turned up unsuccessful. The rockers are still loud as hell. I've got the intake set at 13 and the exhaust set at 15.
Are there any tricks I need to know of? |
Adjust with the engine cold. Not sure about the spec for that one but on non-VTEC it should be .010 and .012 inches.
|
Always done cold. :) and it is the dohc nnon-vtec. I got the spec from club integra or whatever. I'm guessing thee specs just aren't right. I've been using the hell out of google and am still having a hard timefinding specs for it

if its the same motor that came with the car, i think it actually says on a sticker on the hood... atleast mine does.... also Haynes manuals are really good for this kind of thing
|
No, motor does not belong in my car. Its in a 85 CRX. Came from an 88-89 acura integra.
I've downloaded a manual and it said the lash should be at 13 intake and 15 exhaust < tighest setting> and its still loud as hell. |
Hondas are known for some valve tick. Maybe its normal.
|
Nah- this is pretty damn loud. Seriously.

lifters tapping
Hello,
I am new here and read were some one was setting valve lash and mentioned some noise was common for honda's, Just bought a 98 civic ex 107,000 miles vtech engine. I put full synthetic oil in and noticed lifters sounded alittle louder or not--maybe just in my head. First time for syn. oil in anything I have. Anybody have a thought. Thanks dwh |
I'm more than aware of the typical noise Honda motors put off. This is my third Honda. When my friend can hear the valves over my horrible exhaust, its bad. lol
I'm going to give it another shot Friday. I've got to replace a timing belt and reset my timing anyways. |
