Im Just wondering what are the benefits and what they actually do? People rave on about them, just wanna know if they are worth the money.. £15 / $28 on eBay

Sorry if it seems newbie.. I am pretty clueless engine/part wise with cars..

First off, don't go with a cheap one. People have had the cheapo ones break.

To answer your question, A short throw shifter does just that. It shortens the distance you have to move the shifter to move from gear to gear. And yes, they are great.

You will also want to get a weighted shift **** to offset the leverage lost due to the short shifter.

how do ya know you have a short shifter?
im not sure if my 94civic has one or not... it seems kinda hard to throw in gear with the motor off and makes some rattling noise when i go side to side... havent had time to realy inspect it...
heres what mine looks like if it helps... might be easier with the motor running BUT no clue yet...

is that any good looking?
i just dont know what i got BUT that rattling noise is a HELL NO for me!!!!!! im hoping its just a worn bushing or something!
