Speedo HELP!!

I've read what seems like every post about Speedometers up here & I am still w/o a speedo. I've replaced the VSS, Gauge cluster, speedo itself, checked all fuses about three times. Speedo & trip doesn't work and cruise will not set. Please help!!!!

Maybe the pins in the VSS plug are corroded or damaged. If you're not getting a good signal from the sensor, the ECU should set the VSS code and the check engine light would come on.

yes i had same problem in my sedan, the harness plug that plugs into trans speed sensor was bad, i cut it off and replaced it with a new one from the junkyard.

I will get my Dad to go by the salvage yard tomorrow and pick up a harness. Do you guys think the cruise control could have anything to do with it???

no ... and you dont need the whole engine harness just cut the wires/plug off.

If CEL is on, check the CEL FIRST!!

If the CEL pertains to the speedo sensor, ding ding ding, it's probably just the sensor located ontop of the transmission.

If CEL is NOT on....
Problem: The speedo doesn't work but the odometer works.
Solution: Replace the cluster or just replace the speedo gauge

Problem: The speedo doesn't work AND the odometer doesn't work.
Solution 1*: Bad Sensor - Replace the speedo sensor in the transmission.
*CEL should be on
Solution 2: Bad Gauge - Replace cluster or just replace the speedo gauge
IF Neither solution above fixed it.
Solution 3: Check all wiring from the sensor to the gauge. Because the signal is disrupted somewhere.

OK fellas, hers an update: Another complete gauge cluster, pigtail from vss sensor(salvage yard) new cruise module(under dash) and vss sensor(salvage yard). None of these things worked??? My son just got his license and is wearing MY truck out.Help please!!!

well you got a vss sensor from the junk yard.... how do you know it works, istead of buying parts get a multimeter testor and test parts to see if they work,
