1995 DX

my speedometer cuts in and out - is this an electronic speedometer? is it likely to be a loose connection?

 

Subscribing as I have the same problem. Speedometer and odometer. It's beginning to become very irritating. Dealer wants $80 to check it out, I've been too lazy. They said it is either bad cables or could be the sensor going out. I just may pull out my cluster tonight and take a look. I'll let you know what I find out. [sm=smiley20.gif]

 

im having the same problem with my 1996 civic dx, i have a SI cluster in it and i just replaced the speed sensor and it still didnt work. so i think i will take the cluster out and see if its some loose wires.

 

any fix for this? for i have just started experiencing this, right when the cold hit too, so makes me think its coincidence and will fix itself heh

 

thread from the dead.... just get a new cluster(if you have one without a tach then this is the prime oportunity to gt one with a tach) that is what i did. if that doesnt work then it is you'r speed sensor..... and the cluster is cheeper go with that first

 

thats what it did on my 92 hatch, the speedo would work when it wanted to work soi got a ex cluster and that solved the problem

 

so if its a cluster problem it cant be fixed without replacement like a wire or something or is this a circuit thing? with a new cluster wont milege readings be wrong?

 

update the speedometer jumps to 0 and back to actual speed usually right after i shift gears, is this any help to determine weither its the sensor or speedometer itself?
