speedometer died on highway

Default speedometer died on highway

ok so i was driving on the major highway where i live and the car started smoking so i imediatly pulled over noticing my speedometer didnt work also give the engine a good check over make sure everything seems to be in working order turn the car back on and cel comes on i drive home and take the code flashes cel 17 vvs speed sensor but from what i hear my civic the 95 coupe si or for that matter all eg's are pretty notorious for having wierd clusters what should be my first course of action change the cluster or the speed sensor

me too but i checked all the fluids and it smelled like burning plastic which is y i figure something went terribly wrong inside the cluster or the wiring on the way to the cluster i guess i gotta wake up at first light tommorow take it all apart and try to get it fixed before college at 2

my mitsu 3000gt did that after i drove the sh*t out of it...i smoked the vss and the trans

the tranny feels completely fine ive been driving the car constantly without the speedometer since i have a gps which tells me if im speeding
