Starting problem.

1997 Honda Civic Manual 4 Door.

Firstly, I have searched and searched and to no avail. Now 2 days ago I go to start my car and nothing, no attempt at swinging no nothing. I checked my battery and it seemed fine, took the terminals off and cleaned with coke and a toothbrush and still nothing. I then took my starter out and took it to a specialist; specializes in starters and alternators. He tested it and everything is fine, it spins etc. I try to jump my car and still nothing at all. All my lights turn on, radio plays, windows go up and down. The same day it didn't wanna start I drove it earlier prior to the incident and when I park I saw the little plastic stopper that goes into the little hole on the clutch pedal(brake pedal has the same stopper; white cone shape little thing) broken up so I just got a nut and bolt to fit into the hole. Not sure if that would help.
Thanks in advance....

Unplug the clutch switch, the one at the top (if you have cruise control there is another switch on the clutch pedal lower down, that one is only for cruise). Put a jumper wire in the plug and try the starter. If it starts that shows everything else is OK but there's a problem with the switch or the plunger still.

You can also test by bypassing the key, clutch switch etc. entirely by going under the hood. Be sure the car is not in gear and the brake is set, otherwise the car may move by itself during the test below. Unplug the small wire on the starter. Use a test wire from battery + to the terminal on the starter for the small wire. The engine should crank. That proves the battery and starter are OK.

Thanks for replying, I did the latter(unplug the little plug from the starter then from positive battery connect a wire etc) it attempted to start so my starter/battery is good. I'm not finding a clutch switch on my clutch pedal?? Not sure where it is. Anyone got a picture of some sort?

It's way up at the top, above the pivot point.

In the linked diagram, the switch is part #16. Note also the rubber pads part #20.

Appreciated, that's way up in there. Any easy way to access?
