still having cranking trouble

well this past week all of a sudden it takes about 5-6 cranks to get my car started sometimes even 8...... but it runs fine when started.... anyway i changed my fuel filter, my battery, cleaned the fuel injectors, spark plugs are fine....i also got my fuel pump pressure tested and thats fine..... what else could it be..... could it be a dirty air filter???? or maybe i should ru na higher octaner gas??? its like the first few cranks i hear my engine want to start but it hesistates and then doesnt start for a few more cranks.... any insight would be appreciated

cant tell where you are.
Is it cold (excessively so )???

Yea it is pretty cold..I live in the nyc area, u think its just cold start?

when ever it warms up, i would check the timing.
and later or at the same time, check for compression.
rings may be going bad.

if you take it to the shop, then alot of money. if you break down the motor and then bring it in, cheaper. you can do it yourself, but i couldnt tell ya how to do it.

i did my head and rings - cost is about 100 dollars.
did not do rod bearings.
cost is not much in today's world; but it was my first and it took a lot of time.
i followed Haynes

well this morning it took about 8 cranks to get started.... when i start it hesistates to start..... im also hearing a liquid coming from the engine..... what could this be?

think just circulation into the heater core.
it is not leaking - is it ??

well with the cold weather id asume thats just it... the cold... your battery is realy put to the test with the cold weather killing its cranking power.... most the time when people say thier car wont start in the winter its typicaly cause of a weak battery...
id take the car to like autozone or any autoparts store that can test your battery for free... and see how strong your battery realy is first...
