Default Surging Idle 1998 Civic

Hey guys currently having surging idle whenever in drive and seems to only be bad when cold. Ive previously cleaned my IACV and it did nothing. Every so often ill get a code for a (system air leak) also sometimes when coming to a stop ill get a sort of ghost sound like air escaping. Are there any ways I can check for a air leak or if I have a bad IACV or a bad sensor?

sensors should be fine, you have a vacume leak check around the throttle body and intake for any hoses half way on or off

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Run your fingers along all the ports/connections after the TB inlet (don't forget where the injectors seal against the intake manifold). If you can find the leak that way, you'll hear the air rushing by your fingers exposing itself. That's that only way I know to find it. Otherwise, I believe shops can perform a smoke test to find the leak.

Vacuum leaks can be hard to find sometimes. It could either be a gasket which has failed, or a vacuum hose which has deteriorated over time (assuming you have not replaced anything other than the IACV recently)
