Timeing, cam gears installed
Hey guys, Ive finely got my timing belt for my b16a along with the tensioner, water pump and cam gears ( I broke a cam gear taking of the crank pully )
Well getting the old cam gears off the cams spun counter clockwise got them off put the new water pump on along with the tensioner and put the new adjustible cam gears on but now im unsure if I can just rotate the cams around so the lines line up and the up's are in the up position or do I haft to rotate the exahust cam twice to the intake once, or are they just being lined up with the up marks up ok..
Also one cam hast to be rotated around to get it to line up can I rotate it clockwise or do I haft to spin it all the way around counter clockwise.. Thanks

Set the crank so it is NOT at TDC (about 1/4 turn away from TDC). At that position, all the pistons are about halfway up. They're not at the top of the cylinder, so you can turn the cams as much as you want and there's no way the valves can hit a piston. You can turn the two cams independently. Set the cams to TDC then turn the crank to TDC as well. Now with all the marks aligned, put the timing belt on.
ok.. ive got it all back together and it starts up but it idles at 3000 rpm's .. I have adjustible timing gears, you thing that they are not set right if so what way would i haft to turn them to get them to decrease.. Cars been sitting for to months so I would like to get it going as soon as possible.. Truck is killing me driving 40miles a day to work... Thanks
