Default timing????

I have a 91 dohc zc, and i was going to set my timing last nite but there was a small problem. On the pulley where there is supposed to be some score marks, there are none. So my question is, how would i go about setting my timing if there are no marks on the pulley to set it to??

Any help on this would be great, i just got a new cat. and i need to set the timing so i can go to emissions testing.

I am pretty sure you have marks on there. After a while though they get really dirty and the color wears off. Get some degreaser or Simple Green and spray on there. Hook your timing light up and shine it down there and look for your marks.

They usually have a tiny U-shaped notch, not a score or a colored line.

U-shaped notch? Not the sight... the setting marks on the crank pulley. Of course I have never set the timing on a ZC.
