Default Timing Belt Inspection

I'm wanting to inspect the timing belt on my 96lx AT, can I just remove the upper cover or do I have to remove anything else to get to it?

Once I get to it, am I just looking for cracking or are there other concerns as well?

BTW I wont be replacing the belt myself, just want to know if it needs one.

If its the same am mine, you need to take off the valve cover to get that plastic part off to look at the timing belt. Also, go to your automotive store and pick up a haynes manual for $15. Its tell your eveything you need to know about your car and how to do it. It also has pictures of what to look for when checking any belts.

I should pick up another manual. I have the honda shop manual, but it only describes replacement, not just taking a peek!
