Default timing belt install 92 1.5

Chilton manual says top pulley to up ...bottom pulley notch up ...crank counter clockwise 3 teeth then tighten adjuster pulley...well i go 2 teeth belt skips a tooth and i think i am missing something in the translation....if i put pressure on pulley to keep from skipping it looks like when it starts it will skip a tooth or 2 any insight would be a blessing

You probably need a new spring for the aduster pulley. Sounds like it's not holding it tight enough. Mine did that to but I happened to be someplace I couldn't just run down to the part store and my car had to get me home that day. So I DON'T RECCOMEND THIS but what I did was loosen the adjuster pulley and lighty tapped it up until the belt had enough tension not to slip and tightend it down. The problem with this is if it's to tight your belt won't last as long and to loose your f*&%$d.. So you guessed I have to go through the whole scenario again just to replace the spring.
