'01 Civic EX Shuts Down Intermittently
Wierd Problem, typically occurs on hot afternoon drive home on I-95:
Cruising along at 70 mph, my 01 Civic EX coupe will suddenly get a check engine light, engine will start stumbling and loose power, as if running out of fuel. I pull off the highway, and the catalytic is smoking. I let it cool off, and then drive home OK but not on the Interstate. It's like maybe my fuel is running lean, or rich, I don't know. CE light wil clear in a day or two. It may not happen again for months, and never happens on morning drives or when its cool, just when it is hot. I read that the EVAP solenoid might cause something like this...gas expanding in tank when hot with no where to vent. Any ideas ?
