transmission swap help
ok guys ive checked up on a ton of posts and different blogs and maybe I just missed the answer somewhere. I have a 2002 civic ex and Im doing a tranny swap from A/T to M/T. Can anyone tell me if all parts are the same for both 2dr and 4dr models. Unfortunately I bought a trans that didnt come with cylinders, mounts, and I also have to buy the ECU and trans lines. So again, can anyone tell me if the 2dr parts are the same as the 4dr as far as the tranny goes, and if anyone has any of these parts laying around ill gladly take em off your hands cause the salvage yards were I live are terrible.
I will def post some pics if I can figure out what all parts will work for my 4dr. I plan on doing it myself, but if cost keeps going up, then Im scraping the idea and buying a turbo
The older ones had a different gear ratio in the 4dr compared to all the other versions. I don't know if that is the case with a 2002. If it is, everything will still physically fit but you'd need to match the ECU to the tranny because it compares engine speed to road speed and expects a certain ratio. The non-4 door tranny is geared "taller" which should give you better highway gas mileage in 5th gear.
