Used Engine or Rebuilt Engine???
I'll be brief and to the point.
My engine was overheating (really hot weather and in traffic). I did all the basic stuff (checked fan system, thermosat was changed and new radiator was put in). Engine still overheated in really hot weather and in traffic again. I gave in and had it check at Honda dealer service. Mechanic told me I have a blown head gasket. $1375 to repair. I was told that most people will go ahead and change out the engine because the overheating may have cause some serious damage. Used engine with 80,000 miles cost $1700 (engine plus install). I got a quote to have my engine rebuilt for $1900 at another shop. I don't know a lot about cars but I will repair the simple stuff myself using a book ( I changed my thermosat using a chilton's book). I would like the forums advise on which route I should take. Used Engine or Rebuilt Engine. I live in Maryland. If anyone knows a really good!! spot to have this type of work done let me know. Thanks for yall input! Oh yeah I looking to have this work done before the winter start to really settle in. |
