Its honestly really really simple. just helped a friend change his valve cover gasket and gromets.
Pull the plug cables,
Remove the 4 nuts that hold the cover in place
pry the valve cover off
Remove the old valve cover gasket
and change out the spark plug "O rings"or "spark plug tube seals" (w/e they are called) (they might be stuck behind the valve cover, Valve cover gasket set should come with new ones)
Use some high temp red RTV silicone sealant on the curved areas when putting the valve gasket on.
and when you put the valve cover back on remember to also change out the top gromets that the valve cover gasket set comes with lol.
BTW the top screws get torqued to 7ftlb
I might have forgoten a few steps..(like removing the valve cover breather hose that goes to the intake lol) But its pretty straight forward.
GL!

okay! thanks, i can get that @ autozone. the reason im gonna do it is bc i have the d16y8 and it just says :HONDA: so i was looking @ one that had the vtec also on it, and my current one is a lil dull and i think the dude that had the car before me, changed it or something, becase i can see some sealant where he put in the valve cover gasket back on. so yeah! thanks though

The most important thing is don't overtighten the bolts. They break easily. Don't go nuts with sealant either. Remove all old sealant and oil from the sealing surfaces. While you have the cover off, stuff rags in the oil return holes in the front corners of the head so nothing falls in. Anything dropped into those holes ends up down in the oil pan and would require removing the pan to retrieve.
When you pull the spark plug wires out leave them connected to the distributor so they stay in the right order. You may want to make a diagram of how they go since if plugged in wrong the engine will not start.

m@nny, I would recommend downloading the factory service manual for your car. It has illustrations and instructions for many tasks. I have found it invaluable for anything under the hood.
