Valve Cover/Seals

Bear with me a minute, not a honda guy! Son buying a 89 civic with 4 cyl. has one dead cyl, pretty sure its a dizzy cap or wire prob, but while at it how does the rotor come off!! second there is a large amount of oil in the spark plug tubes (tubes that the plug wires go into), figure there has to be some type of seals there.
can i assume that you pull the plugs and unbolt the cover and off it comes, and how do the tubes seperate?
he only paid 300 for the car he can put alittle $ in it!
By the way , Am old motor head from the 60's and 70's and have a 77 280z that I just restored.

there are rubber gaskets on the inside of the valve cover, around each spark plug hole. you can buy them at an auto parts store and replace them easily. jus scrape the old ones off and put the new ones on. the valve cover comes off easily...loosen the 4 bolts and it comes right off. i don't know how to get the rotor off i had the same car before and i would just replace the entire distributor unit...

the tubes don't separate, they are part of the head....they extend from the spark plug up to your valve cover, and the gaskets i mentioned fit between.

The rotor comes off by removing a allen/torx screw from the backside of the rotor bug. then it will pull right off. It has been a while since I did one, cant remember whether it was an allen head or a torx. I think it is one or the other but it has a screw holding it on.

Wow beautiful Z you got there. Do you have any other front shots of the car? What mods do you have in there? Still got the stock engine in there or did you swap in a VG30?
