there is a very big difference from it being on a switch..
Because:
1. The ECU does not switch to the VTEC fuel and timing maps when you manually engage VTEC.
2. You probably weren't engaging it at the optimal RPM.

well its a d15z1 and when it was in my vx hatch (p07) it engaged at 2.2k rpm stock til 5.5k(redline)
and now (p28) vtec engauges at 5k til 7.2k(redline) and its a very big difference in performance.
but yea i know about the ecu when vtec kicks in it changes the fuel and timing maps. thats why i've been trying to get it done.. i got a p28 ecu for free when i bought my trans swap from a d16z6
