Warning light on after installing air filter

Hey people

Just put in an aftermarket air filter on my 97 civic hatch, which involved cutting the wires to what I think is the air flow sensor/meter coz it was too short for the new filter....

now the warning light for the emissions is staying on???

Can anyone help me?

I crimped in 2 new lengths of wire to extend it,are they not making a connection??Was pretty careful when doing this!

RE: Warning light on after installing air filter

Retrieve the CEL code from the ECU as detailed here:

Note the CEL code and then clear it from the ECU. If the CEL does not turn ON again after driving the car, then your wiring is fine.

Thanx Ron J

Checked it,turned out it was the sensor,or rather the wiring...

After much head scratching..............I realised the wires were shorting out before the sensor, because in my rush I didnt insulate/seperate the crimps ha ha (I know,sum1 kick me!!!)

After fixing that, all is good again on my pride and joy!

Thanx man!
