Ok so I changed a head gasket along with timing belt, water pump, and IAC valve, on a 99 civic lx. After a few weeks it started burning coolant. Before I did the job the car leaked coolant, failed CLT test from cyl to cyl, had MIL on for 3 of 4 cyl misfire and random misfire, and it was driven periodically while it would over heat. After I did the job all was well, untill 3 weeks to a month later it started consuming coolant. Any ideas on what went wrong?

Possibly warped or cracked head? Throttle body, or intake manifold gasket?

 

Did you have the head machined or checked for possible warps or cracks? Did you tighten head bolts to specs in correct order. Have you rechecked the torque? Does Honda recommend using new head bolt when replacing heads or gaskets? Some manufactures do.

 

No I didn't have the head checked. I did torque them in the right order and torque spec. And I don't know if Honda recommends new head bolts. I used Alldata for guidelines and they didn't say anything about new head bolts, but I know sometimes they can be off.
