Weird dead battery question new car
Any ideas about this...?
I parked my car at the airport for five days, while on a trip; and when I came back my car was dead. Given the assumption that I did not leave anything on before leaving my car, is there any reason a fairly new car (2005 > 20,000 miles) would just die?
I had it charged and it seems fine now, but am a bit perplexed.
Thanks!
Tess

It can be aweak battery. But your battery is relatively new if its OEM. I usually don't expect my batteries last more than 4 years. It seem that if I don't my car once awhile on an older battery, they seem to need a jump. But with a fresh battery, they start right up even I don't start my cars for over a month.
You might have a parasitic draw. A parasitic draw is some electrical component in your car that is staying on after you take the key out and is not suppose to stay on. It isn't very hard to figure out if you have a parasitic draw or not. Hook up an ammeter to the battery and take the key out and lock the car like you normally would. If the ammeter shows current (i think its more than .6A) then you have a parasitic draw. Start pulling fuses until the current reading goes down. The fuse that causes the current to go down is the circuit with the parasitic draw.
