well I uh...did sumthin.
Somy car revs to 9500 with hondata.... i got to 9000and one of my spark plug wire cap pops off, sounds like i have cams in my car till i put it back on. Can this mess up your engine? Is this normal to happen? what can i do to prevent this from happening?

RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
details on the car, setup?
i would not rev that high again...pretty good way to avoid issues;) |
RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
personally I have never heard of this... but it does not sound good IMO, you might want to avoid doing it again like forty said... just to prevent a recurrence:eek:

RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
uh, what kind of civic have you got?
Unless it's an S2000...reving it up to 9000 is a really dumb thing to do. |
RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
you dont make power after a certain RPM, and 9K is above that mark

ORIGINAL: FlipHKD720 you dont make power after a certain RPM, and 9K is above that mark |
RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
So the enginemanagement allows it to go to 9500rpm... but can the engine:eek:

RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
Pointless to let a stock engine rev that high, even if it doesn't blow it will be making less horsepower than it could at the optimal lower RPM.

RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
sounds like the seal on the spark plug started leakin a little bit. id pull it and check to make sure its still makin a seal. and reving that high is pointless just like everyone else said. you proboby stop makin good power between 7000 and 7500 rpm. just cuze itl do it dosnt mean that you have to.

RE: well I uh...did sumthin.
the text book definition of rpm is not "revolutions per minute" as people belive, it actually stand for "ruins peoples motors"
