Hello my friends,

I have bought my 99 civic LXi a month ago, the first thing i did was replacing engine and transmission oil.
I have used Valvoline 80/90 oil for the tranmission, the problem is that when i try to shift the lever to the first gear it is hard specially when the weather is cold.
Is the problem from the oil and is this oil good ? if not, what is the best oil for manual transmission?

 

for transmission oil i prefer and many people prefer to use OEM Honda MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid)

 

Do not use any kind of 80W / 90W oil in the transmission. Honda specifies 10W40 motor oil (yes, motor oil in the transmission.) or their MTF.

 

you used 80/90??? dont ever do that again use 10w40 i have even used 10w30

 

i strongly suggest only using honda mtf or 5w-20, you NEVER want thick oil in your trans, or you will destroy the sycro's

i have changed the transmission oil, i have used AC DELCO 10w-40 API SM
i think this is good
my transmission is very smooth now
