Earlier I took a look at my dist cap, it was corroded to all hell! So I went up to Oreilly's got another one, installed it...my idle went from less than 100rpm to around 550....it idles a lot better. I refuse to comment on any performance gains, though I did try, it seems anything you would "feel" would be a placebo effect.
It looks as if the cap had never been replaced. So, I'm assuming the rotor, wires and plugs haven't been either...on a 16 year old car, that would seem to be a big deal...
