whats wrong?

this morning i woke up to go to school and i was going to back out but my car wasnt moving and i was in nuetral and i was in my drive way and i got it going but when i put it in first to go the back brakes were locking up even though the ebrake was down and the light was off. i dont know whats wrong but its the back brakes some how. well please help me.

back brakes, so now i dont use my ebrake anymore, i just put my car into first gear everytime i park my car or else the brakes are getting locked up and not releasing when i pull the ebrake.

Do you have rear disk brakes?

If so, you may want to pull your rear wheels off and check to make sure the sping that is on your rear caliper isn't heavily rusted and can move freely.

the rear brakes are drums, have a 97 hatchback
