hi
i have a 1991 civic 1500 vti hatch import.
after i ran inda garage to pay for some stuff i jumped back in my car and it wouldnt start.kept strugling and wouldnt tick over.
tried it few times then left it for 2 min then it started.
seems to run fine.any1 got any ideas what cmight of happened?
could it be something to do with the fuel pump?

Sounds like a faulty Fuel Pressure Regulator to me. You can test to find out 100% if its the FPR. You have put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail. Then you should clamp the supply line to the fuel rail and check the fuel pressure. THe pressure should stay constant, if the pressure goes down then the FPR isn't doing its job correctly. I'm pretty sure this is a the correct test, some1 could confirm?

 

yep there should be a schraeder valve on the fuel rail, another thing to check is wires for corrosion and high resistance and the oil pressure sending unit could be at fault. the fuel pump uses a relay to turn it on, when you turn the key to on you should hear the fuel pump engage (whine) if you don't the relay or pump is bad.

someone else mentioned to me that it might be the fuel pump relay
as for a couple of time when i tried to start it it dident make that whine sound but the light still came on.
where do i locate the fuel pump relay??????is it in the back or under the bonnet?
