Thanks man oh and you need to look for Contact Glue its used for tiles and other things like that. You'll need to spread the glue using a brush (unless you find the spay which is rare and sometimes harder) on the wood and on the carpet. Let it dry then start laying the carpet down. (try to do it in sections from back to forward) Once you lay the carpet with glue down on the wood with glue you wont be able to remove it so you have one shot so do it slow. Get a roller in case you get a bubble or something the roller may be able to push it out. BTW leave the trap door cover in and once the carpet is on and dry use a small blade to cut out the trapdoor in the carpet so when you ake the trapdoor out and back in it looks as if its not there.
For the box yes i secured it to the wood. I took my speakers out of the box then drilled in 8 screws into the bottom of the box to hold it to the wood and it doesnt rattle, slide, and no one can take it.
Wow man that looks clean you did a good job and yeah i used my carpet as a stencil so i had a lot of cutting and sanding to do and i used the original carpet that came with my car and glued it onto the wood if you want something else just get a simi thick fabric at walmart or something and cut it to fit. OH and I finished my latest project ill post the pics here tell me what you think. All I have left to do is put plexy glass over the capacitor http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...0/IMG_0239.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...0/IMG_0289.jpg
Yeah like i said you will be doing a lot of measuring I sometimes measured up to 5 or 6 times just to be sure but im sure you can do something to make it work I have 2 tens so my box is smaller but then I dont know how big your trunk is. Let me know how it goes
Oh yeah I did all the measurements with the box and with the tire before I made it. but if the spare is the right size the 2 in lift from the 2x6 boards should be enough lift. as for my speaker box this is somewhat of a guess but I believe my box is about 12 to 14 in high because I have two 10s for my bass and I have about 1 in gap from the roof of my trunk
well i used a table saw, an electric sander, and a jig saw is what i used and make sure the screws and level with the wood or pushed in a little if you know what i mean? as for the wood make sure it wont bend
Also before you make your trap door put the entire base board into your trunk and place the sub box exactly where you want it mark the wood where you want the trap door to be then take everything back out and cut out the trap door and put it all back in pray that you measured right because if you mess up on the cutting of the trap door then it will look crappy. MAKE SURE to measure many times before each cut. Once all is in and i have given you instructions and carpet install you can put the subs box and bolt that into the wood so it wont slide and no one can steal them. Ill tell you how when you get to that point
