Default 04 civic started with the trunk.

After bombing around on the site, Which has many intereting tips, I started my customization with the trunk of my car (and stereo)
I just finished building a custom trunk for my 04 civic. I think it looks pretty good, and although it took around 10-14 hours to do, it only cost me 140$.
here are some pics of the install. (the 140$ was just for the sub boxes and stuff, all the stereo stuff I had in there before.)
those are 2 10" clarions woofers, and a 1000.1 clarion amp. I also installed door speakers and tweeters a while back, that is what the other amp is for. there is also a 1.5 farad cap behind the spare tire.

Also I have rims on order 17" core Racing. hoping to get them monday or tuesday.

This site is great, and I will be probing for info on suspention in the near future, ( the suspention on my 04 is garbage, the ford focus rides smoother.)
I'm sure I will get all the help I need from you guys.

I recently bought an 04 Civic, and I saw that you said you installed door speakers, and I am wondering how hard that was. I have taken a quick glance and I haven't seen any screws or anything, and I thought I would ask someone how they did it before I break something and a 2 hour install job turns into a nightmare. Any info wuld help.

It was actually pretty easy. (I have the coupe FYI) I started by removing the little panel behind the door handle, there are 2 screws behind it. you undo the screws, pull out the handle, there is a little plastic clip holding the handle to the dool release arm, you just have to kind of spin it and pull out the rod. disconnect the harnesess if any, then the handle is free. you then pull of the little hatch covering another scre on the "armrest handle" and just tug the handle panel off. there should be 2 screws under that, pull those out, and then you can just start at the bottom outside corner of the door and tug the panel off. now the door panel is off. remove the stock speakers, they should just unclip, and pull out the harness. in order to install the speakers i had to fab a ring out of MDF board, to screw to the door, then i screwed the speakers to it. I also tapped into the stock wirinng at the HU and just spliced into the wiring below the harness at the door.

nice. trunk looks good. not quite sure about the grates over them tho. like i understand the function.. but it seems you're going for style (otherwise you would just throw a sub box in the trunk like most people) so why lose that element of style by putting those grates? idk. maybe its just me. but i say lose them.. and it will look a ton better. oh wow. i cant imagine listening to my system with all that chit in the car. haha. all that stuff would rattle like no other. its a good setup tho. where did you buy your boxes from?

also you say you started with the trunk.. whats next? what mods do you have planned? are you lookin to make a show car or a go car??

keep us updated.

EDIT: i just re-read your original post.. says you have rims on order and you're gunna upgrade your suspension..

pictures of the rims?? = )

and as far as suspension goes, what are you looking to get out of suspension? increased handling? or a smoother ride? whats your budget look like?

Man, I like how you hid all the wires and everything, looks real nice. I'm all for cleanly done mods. Thumbs up to that trunk... without all the tools in it, haha.

The grates look a little odd to me, but I understand the function. Lights look good.

I'm really not into the whole subwoofer thing, but I had to just stop and tell you how nice and clean you did everything. I can't wait to see what you do next.

my budget is fairly loose. I just got rims+tires on monday, and I am looking into an adjustable air suspention in the next month or so. I didn't buy the boxes I made them.
