Default 06 civic, upgrade performance?

Hey,

I'm looking to make some minor changes to my 06 civic to boost performance. Thinkin about upgrading the air filter and exhaust for now. Any suggestions out there? What kind of horsepower increase do you think that would get? One thing I want to avoid is a loud annoying exhaust system, I hate hearing a car 2 blocks after it went by. Do most of ya change headers too or is it necessary? If you have any more suggestions let me know or let me know what you've done to your ride!

CAI would be a nice start and header and exhaust would help out also
I have AEM CAI and I love it you will get a lot better throttle response and it will sound much better

Yeah, like they are all saying, go CAI then catback exhaust. Just the air filter and muffler won't do you any good except for the muffler making your sound like crap. Go with the CAI first, they are generally the biggest bang for the buck.

Couple things to remember, if you don't want to be heard blocks away unlike 80% of the Civics out there, you'll want a large-chamber muffler cat-back system. For example, the Apexi World Sport is a great choice. A buddy of mine had it on his Prelude, and it rocks. Stay away from the cylinder mufflers, they will be very noisy. Last night on my way home from work, I saw two older hatch Civics with the small, prob 1.5" exhaust with the cylinder muffler, and they couldn't touch the gas w/o making a lot of noise, it was so obnoxious, more like a weed-wacker. Raspy as he!!. Don't just change the muffler, that won't do anything but create noise and waste your money. I have a CAI for my Civic, but I'm waiting on a day that I can put it on.
