2004 Civix LX
Hello Everyone,
I just bought a 2004 Civic LX. I am encountering a strange thing. When I am going downhill at fairly slow speed, and I still have to apply the brakes lightly to slow down, the car would suddenly and momentarily jerk. Once it was strong enough to jerk me forward a little. It feels like the brakes suddenly got an extra boost even though I am not applying any extra pressure on the pedal. Or else, it may be the transmission suddenly downshifting. I talked to the dealer and they tell me it is the so-called Grade Pro Logic downshift. Or could be the air con cutting off at the same time, and momentarily boosting the braking? My air-con was on during those times. But I did not feel the pedal going down more. But it is a really weird sensation and it is unnerving me, knowing that it can do this anytime. I am not too happy about this. Shouldn't an automatic transmission be smooth at any speed? Anyone has a similar experience? I should be very glad to know. Thanks. |
RE: 2004 Civix LX
your rear axle might be slipping. Its where the axle is kinda loose so when you apply the brakes it actually jerks on your rear axle. I hope that its not that problem because it will run you about $500 at a mechanic.

Thank you.
I hope this is not the case since it is a new car. But I suppose anything is possible, even in a new car. Dealer is trying to pass off the experience I described as normal. He may be right, I don't know. If there are other owners out there with a similar experience, please let me know. I may be more inclined to believe him then. |
